Ceramics Workshop “Auškāpi”
Along the Smiltene – Rauna road, you’ll find the “Auškāpi” ceramics workshop, where ceramist Laimonis Cepurītis welcomes guests. The ceramics workshop has been operating since 2017, but the title of Folk Art Master was obtained already in 1982. . Laimonis’ works are crafted from red and black clay, sourced from the “Raunas māls” production facility, as well as from white clay imported into Latvia from other countries. This results in ethnographic “bowls”, mugs, and modern design dishes. The ceramic dishes are fired in a Vidzeme-type wood-fired kiln, which is one of the last of its kind in Latvia.
