Bread Museum “Kukaburra”
At “Kukaburra”, visitors can observe the museum’s owner baking traditional rye bread – from kneading the dough and shaping the loaves to sliding them into a wood-fired bread oven using a traditional peel. While the bread is baking, guests can enjoy a hearty meal or leisurely explore a carefully curated collection assembled over many years.
Freshly baked loaves are available for purchase to take home.
The museum’s host, Jānis Krieķis, has collected a wide range of authentic ethnographic items typical of Latvian rural homesteads from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The collection includes original furniture, agricultural tools, kitchen utensils, clothing, footwear, handicrafts, and other household items.
