Cider Brewery “Abuls”
Cider brewery “Abuls” is a small, farm-based craft cider producer. Although the cidery is relatively new, the story of making cider began around 2000, with passionate annual experiments using local apples at home. Inspiration came later from visits to renowned cider regions such as Normandy, Asturias, Somerset, and the Basque Country. Over the years, various local apple and wild apple varieties were explored, along with cider-making techniques from different parts of the world. Today, the most suitable and refined methods are used in the production of the “Abuls” cider.
- Since 2018, “Abuls” has been produced at a rural homestead on the outskirts of Smiltene, in a newly built cider cellar located at the very source of the River Abuls. Next to the cider cellar is a self-planted apple orchard, the harvest of which is used to produce authentic craft cider.
- The current range of “Abuls” includes the ciders “Savvaļa”, “KERR”, “Apiņotais”, “Pepiņš”, “Bruts”, as well as a strong alcoholic beverage – blueberry balsam “Mežs”. During the winter season, hot drinks, “Ziema”, are also available.
- Drinks can also be purchased via the online shop.
