On May 16, the traditional Vaidava Cup will take place for the 53rd time at the Ape motocross track. This year, the event will see significant changes – the competition returns to a one-day format and, for the first time, will be held on a Saturday, becoming a full-day celebration of motorsport.

The strongest athletes from the Baltic states in the sidecar and quad bike classes will line up at the старт, competing for points in the overall standings of the Latvian Championship, as well as taking part in the Vaidava Cup classes MX1, MX2, MX125, MX85, MX Open 250, and MX Open 450. Alongside the main races, the popular Golden Moped Championship will also take place.

Vaidava Cup organizer and eight-time Latvian motocross champion Mairis Levans:
“This year, we have created a new format – everything will take place in one day, on Saturday. This means that visitors will be able to experience the full dynamics of the competition in a single day – from the Golden Moped races to the strongest motocross classes, as well as quad bike and sidecar competitions. We want it to be not only about sport, but a true motocross festival with atmosphere and traditions – a celebration for the whole family.
During the breaks between races, visitors will have the opportunity to meet previous Vaidava Cup winners and get their autographs. After the competitions, we will also head out on the traditional ride to Čigānu Bay for a swim, and for the first time in the history of the Vaidava Cup, the day will conclude with a moto ball. It will be a full-day event where everyone can find something for themselves.”

In addition to the sports programme, the Vaidava Cup stands out for its long-standing traditions and special atmosphere. One of the most anticipated events has become the joint moped ride to Čigānu Bay, where, at the end of the race day, participants and supporters go for a sunset swim, creating an informal and unifying festive atmosphere. In addition, Hobby Motocross competitions will also be held at the destination for the first time in Latvia.

This year, for the first time in the history of the Vaidava Cup, the festive day will conclude with a moto ball at the Ape Culture Centre, where the band “Tranzīts” will take the stage, while DJ UFO will keep the dancing and atmosphere going between sets.
The moto ball will bring together both athletes and spectators, allowing everyone to carry on the emotions of the day and bring the Vaidava Cup to a close in a true motocross festival spirit.

The organisers emphasise that this year’s event has been designed as a full-day experience for the whole family, and family tickets are also available for the first time, making the Vaidava Cup even more accessible to visitors.

The Vaidava Cup has been held in Ape since 1974 and is the oldest motocross competition in the Baltics, as well as one of the oldest and most tradition-rich competitions in Europe, each year bringing together a large number of competitors, spectators and motorsport enthusiasts from across Latvia and beyond.
