Smiltene Municipality continues to improve tourism information and make it more accessible. This month, the information displayed on the Ape town information board was updated, bringing together information on local attractions, dining options, accommodation and hiking routes in one place.

The information board consists of three sections. The central section features a map of the town of Ape with information about tourist attractions, dining options and accommodation in Ape and the surrounding area, while the two side sections feature maps of hiking routesThis is the first information board of its kind in Smiltene Municipality to combine a large-format town map and hiking route maps in one place, giving visitors a more convenient way to explore the local tourism offer and plan their leisure activities.
Alongside the renewal of information boards, in 2026 the Business and Tourism Department of Smiltene Municipality is working on hiking routes the development of hiking routes throughout the municipality. Two routes are being developed in each parish and town to provide active leisure opportunities suitable for different interests and abilities.
