This will be the seventh hike in the cycle “Smiltene Municipality – A Place to Discover”. As usual, participants will be able to choose one of two circular routes, both starting and finishing at the Blome
Community Centre. The hike starts at 10:00 AM.
The long route will be 16 kilometers long and is expected to take approximately 4–5 hours to complete. This circular route will cover various terrains, including forest trails and scenic countryside roads, showcasing the natural, cultural, and historical heritage of Blome Parish. Along the way, participants will have the opportunity to hike a section of the Nigra trail, known for its wild nature, view the Blome Fairytale Oak, and stop by the Jeberleja open-air stage and the “Lielkalnu muiža” guest house.
The short route will be 7 kilometers long and will take approximately 3 hours to complete. This route is suitable for families with children and anyone wishing to enjoy active outdoor recreation at a leisurely pace. During the hike, participants will have the opportunity to discover the most beautiful places in the Blome area, including the Blome Fairytale Oak, the Jeberleja open-air stage, a stop at the “Lielkalnu muiža” guest house, and a walk along scenic nature trails.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own snacks and drinks to stay energized during the hike. A campfire will be prepared at one of the stops, offering a chance to roast your own sausages or other treats. The locals of Blome have also organized a special activity, inviting everyone to try baking campfire bread and enjoy a taste of the traditional “Blome’s honey bread with milk”.
