#BeActive Smiltene Hiking Event is made possible thanks to the support of several major partners and supporters – it wouldn’t be possible without you!

Already this weekend, on 26 September 2026, the starting signal will be given for the major #BeActive hike in Smiltene, bringing together nearly three thousand outdoor enthusiasts from across Latvia in our municipality.We are delighted and would like to express our sincere thanks to our main partners and supporters for their contribution to the well-being of every participant, the promotion of an active and healthy lifestyle, and raising the profile of Smiltene Municipality!

The hike is coordinated and financially supported by the Latvian Sports Federations Council (LSFP). The event is also supported by several major partners, after whom the hiking routes are named, and every participant will receive gifts provided by them.

  • The longest route of the hike (28 kilometres) is supported by the “top!” retail chain – the largest network of Latvian entrepreneurs with 100% local capital. As a trusted partner, “top!” brings together local producers and stands for supporting local communities, healthy nutrition and an active lifestyle. This time, too, the company will make sure that every participant can quench their thirst while enjoying the hiking activities.

  • The 18-kilometre route is supported by one of the prides of Smiltene Municipality, AS “Smiltenes piens” – a company with long-standing traditions that carefully produces high-quality products to help restore energy after any active adventure. The company will provide tasty, healthy and energising snacks for participants.

  • The shortest, 8-kilometre route is supported by ZS “Ķelmēni” – bakers of authentic, traditional and nourishing rye bread, whose products have long held a special place on Latvian tables, both on festive occasions and in everyday life. Naturally, this adventure would not be complete without the strength of grain grown in Latvian soil, which can be tasted in every bite of “Ķelmēni” bread.

  • A delicious energy boost will be provided by the main partners of the twilight hike “Mysterious Dens”: SIA “Dimdiņi” – a company that preserves well-loved flavours while creating new ones that fit perfectly into today’s lifestyle – and SIA “Skrīveru saldumi”, which creates unforgettable flavours from the finest ingredients.

This active outdoor event will also feature various competitions and prize draws. A number of supporters have contributed prizes:

  • sea buckthorn grower SIA “AmberFarm”, also known as “Dzintarferma”,

  • cheese and pasta producer SIA “Siera ražotne”,

  • woodworking company “Kokrade”,

  • “Līvens” electric vehicle

  • café-bistro “Trīs pipari un kūkas”,

  • SIA “Very Berry”,

  • international product distribution company SIA “Eugesta”,

  • Smiltenes Municipality Tourism Information Centre

At several points along the hiking routes, participants will have the opportunity to stop, take a break and warm up with a cup of tea. Hot drinks will be provided by local businesses ZS “Kalnagrīvas” and SIA “AmberFarm”. Participants on the longest route will also be able to stop at the “Abuls” cidery, enjoy the autumn atmosphere and, of course, taste the products made there.

At the main swimming area of Lake Niedrājs, participants will have the opportunity to meet representatives of the State Fire and Rescue Service and learn more about their day-to-day work through conversations and practical demonstrations. At the northern end of Lake Niedrājs, visitors will be able to discover the unique “BeTRITON” amphibious bicycle created by Smiltene native Aigars Lauzis.
Before heading out on the trails, participants can look forward to a range of energising performances. Smiltene-based fitness trainer Ilze Lāce will lead the warm-up for the long “top!” route, while the medium “Smiltenes piens” route will get off to an energetic start with a Kangoo Jumps session led by Agnese Bogdānova. The more relaxed short “Ķelmēni” route will be set in motion by the “Kristāls” dance studio.
In the evening, as mysterious characters begin to emerge along the twilight trail, hikers will be entertained by the popular Smiltene band “Pusnakts brigāde”.

Technical support for the event is provided by SIA “S Visual”, supplying the structures and lighting equipment needed for the event. Printing support is provided by SIA “ITS Tehnoloģijas”.
