On 26 July, the hiking event “Blome’s Honey Bread with Milk” will take place, inviting participants to explore Blome Parish.

This will be the seventh hiking event in the series “Smiltene Municipality – A Place to Discover”. As usual, participants will be able to choose one of two circular routes, both starting and finishing at Blome Community Centre. The hike will begin at 10.00.

The Big Loop will be 16 kilometres and will take approximately four to five hours to complete. It will lead along roads with different surfaces, forest paths and picturesque rural landscapes, offering participants an opportunity to discover the natural, cultural and historical heritage of Blome Parish. Along the route, participants will be able to walk part of the Nigra Trail, known for its wild and unspoilt nature, see the Blome Fairytale Oak, and stop at the Jeberleja open-air stage and the “Lielkalnu muiža” guest house.

The Small Loop will be 7 kilometres long and will take approximately three hours to complete. It is suitable for families with children and anyone wishing to enjoy active recreation in nature at a leisurely pace. During the hike, participants will have the opportunity to discover some of the most beautiful places around Blome, including the Blome Fairytale Oak and the Jeberleja open-air stage, stop at the “Lielkalnu muiža” guest house, and enjoy a walk along scenic nature trails.

Participants are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks to replenish their energy during the hike. At one of the stops along the route, a campfire will be waiting, offering an opportunity to grill sausages or other treats brought along. The people of Blome have also prepared a special activity – everyone will be able to try baking bread over the campfire and taste Blome’s honey bread with milk.

Advance registration for the hiking event is required by 23 July.

To take part in the hike, please complete the online registration form at https://ej.uz/pārgājiens_blomē. Participation is free of charge.

After the hike, those wishing to explore more of the Blome area are encouraged to visit other nearby attractions and enjoy the hospitality of Smiltene Municipality. More ideas can be found on the visit.smiltene.lv website under the “Discover” section.

See you in Blome Parish!
