The hiking event “Trapene Hunting Alleys” took place
On May 24, the hiking event “Trapene Hunting Alleys” took place, marking the fifth hiking event in the hiking series “Smiltene Municipality – A Place to Discover 2026”, organized by the Smiltene Municipality Tourism Information Centre.
This time, approximately 130 participants from the municipalities of Smiltene, Valmiera, Cēsis, Alūksne, and Valka took part. Participants could choose between 7 km and 13 km long routes, either guided or completed individually.
The route started at the Bormaņi or Trapene Manor, and led through a variety of tree-lined alleys featuring larches, oaks, lindens, and birches. Participants also had the opportunity to visit the Mikuži Meeting House, enjoy a meal and explore the antiques museum “Fazāni”, as well as discover other interesting tourism sites in the parish.
The shorter route of the hike was led by Svetlana Spalviņa, head of the Trapene Culture House and Local History Centre, while on the longer route participants were accompanied by engaging stories shared by Īrisa Popoviča, former head of the Trapene Parish Administration and current employee of the social care centre “Trapene”.
Both routes – “Trapene Small Loop” and “Trapene Big Loop” – are marked in nature and accessible to everyone at any time. More information and maps are available on the Smiltene Municipality tourism website in the “DISCOVER” section: https://visit.smiltene.lv/piedzivo/pargajienu-marsruti-trapenes-pagasta/
More photos from the hikeing event are available in the GALLERY section.
N.B. The next hike is planned in the summer solstice, on June 21, in Drusti Parish and promises to be especially magical. More information will follow.
