On 6 September, the “Sparkling Apples of Palsmane” hiking event took place in Palsmane, bringing together nearly 150 participants. Listening to stories shared by local storytellers, visiting local farms and enjoying the surrounding nature, participants completed one of two routes – 9 or 19 kilometres long.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the organisation and successful running of the hike:

• Tigna and Toms for sharing stories about local places, things and events;
• The organic farm “Kalnagrīvas” for welcoming us and offering delicious tastings;
• The owners of “Krastiņi” farm for welcoming us and introducing us to Tina the cow;
• “Krīvi” farm for the refreshing apple juice to enjoy along the way;
• SIA “Palsmane” for giving us an insight into the farm’s development, preparing a quiz and providing sweets;
• The apple cake bakers for the delicious cake!

The event was part of the hiking series “Smiltene Municipality – a Place to Discover”. The next, tenth stage will take place in October in Gaujiena Parish.
