Bread Museum “Kukaburra”

The “Kukaburra” Bread Museum offers the chance to bake rye bread together with the host and experience how the dough is kneaded, loaves are formed, and then slid into a wood-fired oven using a bread peel. While the bread is baking, you can enjoy a delicious meal or take your time exploring the host’s long-standing collection.

Freshly baked loaves are available for purchase to take home.

The museum’s host, Jānis Krieķis, has collected a wide range of authentic ethnographic items typical of Latvian rural homesteads from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The collection includes original furniture, agricultural tools, kitchen utensils, clothing, footwear, handicrafts, and other household items.
