Latvian Symbols Trail

  • Route: circular, approximately 5 km long, leading through Kalnamuiža, the Old Park, and Smiltene Town Centre, including several sightseeing points.
  • Source: Kalnamuiža 9.
  • Duration: approx. 3 hours if all tasks are completed.
  • Format: an interactive walking game, available on the mobile app “Actionbound”.
  • In order to participate, you must download the app “Actionbound” (available in the App Store and Google Play), search for “Latviešu zīmju taka” (Latvian Signs Trail), enter your team name, and start your journey.
The idea of the trail is to promote the symbolism of traditional Latvian signs, encouraging the public to explore cultural heritage and collaborate through shared tasks. This activity is implemented within the Erasmus+ cooperation project “Culture, Craft, and Citizenship”, involving Smiltene Technical School in collaboration with the Smiltene Municipality Tourism Centre, Smiltene Municipality Cultural Centre, Smiltene Municipality Youth Council, and the folklore group “Rudzupuķe”, together with partners from Italy, France and Turkey.
The aim of the project is to promote integration among people of different nationalities through culture and traditions, fostering a sense of belonging, making Smiltene a welcoming and open place for everyone.
