Mikuži Meeting House
The Mikuži Meeting House is located in Trapene, on the banks of the Melnupe River. Services of the Gaujiena Evangelical Lutheran congregation are still held in the building.
About the Meeting House
- The log building was constructed by Latvian farmers in 1803, with renovations carried out in 1872 .
- After the decline of the Moravian (Brethren) movement in the mid-19th century, the building began to be used as a church prayer house.
- To improve acoustics, the ceiling curves downward at the sides, merging with the walls.
- Not far from the building, right on the bank of the Melnupīte River, there is a small healing spring.
