Milk Churn

The Milk Churn is an artistic public installation that also serves as a free drinking water refill point.
Place your water bottle underneath, press the button, and refill it with fresh water.

“The drinking water refill point on the Lake Teperis Promenade is a gift to the town of Smiltene. The environmental art object is designed as a traditional wooden trestle, topped with an oversized milk churn, symbolising the donor of the gift – a dairy processing company. With sustainability in mind, this initiative helps reduce plastic waste from bottled drinking water”, explains Ilze Bogdanova, Chair of the Board of AS Smiltenes piens.

The project was implemented in cooperation with Professor Gļebs Panteļejevs, Head of the Sculpture Department at the Art Academy of Latvia. The author of the installation is the young sculptor, Krišjānis Beļavskis.
