Rauna Nature Trail

Rauna Nature Trail follows both the right and left banks of the River Rauna. The trail showcases a mix of natural highlights and historical landmarks of Rauna Village. It is an excellent place to enjoy nature undisturbed, clear your mind, or simply stretch your legs on a leisurely walk. White sandstone outcrops, the rocky riverbed, and industrial heritage blend seamlessly with the stately Tanīsa Hillfort, the mysterious Velnala (Devil’s) Cave, and pockets of untouched nature.

  • Trail length: approx. 2 kilometres
  • Starting point: by the bridge over the River Rauna on Vidzemes Street
  • Points of interest along the trail: white sandstone outcrops, the rocky Rauna Riverbed, Rauna watermills and HPP, Sapņotava, Tanīsa Hillfort, Rauna Devil’s Cave, and the confluence of the rivers Rauna and Līčupe.
  • The trail is equipped with varied physical-activity elements, which are especially appealing to younger visitors.
  • Information boards provide insight into historical sites and natural features.
  • The trail is accessible by bicycle and with a stroller.
