Smiltene Ski Track
In Smiltene, near Lake Teperis and the Teperis Race Track, is a 3 km long circular cross-country ski trail with a natural snow surface. The route winds through landscapes typical of Smiltene – coniferous forests and rolling terrain – offering several exciting descents and climbs. The trail is suitable for both classic and freestyle skiing.
The start of the skiing season varies each year, as suitable weather conditions are required to prepare the trail. 2023./2024. During the 2023/2024 winter season, the trail was already open from early December. The surface is refreshed almost daily, both on weekdays and weekends, so it is always a good time to enjoy winter activities in Smiltene.

- When arriving by car, parking is permitted at the Teperis motor/karting track parking area, as well as at the ski trail parking area along the road leading to Lake Niedrājs.
- At the start of the trail, there is a small shelter where skiers can leave outerwear and personal belongings.
Note:
- Follow the marked direction of the trail at all times!
- To fully ensure safe skiing conditions, parents are kindly asked to use other areas of the town for children’s sledding.
- Pedestrians and Nordic walkers may only use the inner edge of the trail.
- The use of quad bikes, motorcycles, or other motorised vehicles on the trail is prohibited.

Open at all times! In the summer season, the trail is suitable for cycling, running, Nordic walking, walking with strollers, and other outdoor activities.
