Stone Bridge over Ruņģi Stream
The stone bridge over Ruņģi Stream is located very close to the centre of Launkalne.
About the bridge
- A single-span stone masonry bridge built over Ruņģi Stream in 1855.
- Length: 20 m, height: approximately 3 m, roadway width: 4.5 m.
- During World War II, there were plans to blow up the bridge, but the explosives failed to detonate.
- During the Soviet period, the bridge’s condition deteriorated due to regular use by heavy agricultural machinery.
- The bridge was fully restored in 1997. During restoration, the original stone paving was replaced with asphalt.
