Vaidava Nature Trail

A charming nature trail winds along the picturesque banks of the River Vaidava. Information boards along the trail introduce visitors to the nature of the River Vaidava Valley, forest inhabitants, cultural history and boating, while the cool springs offer refreshing drinking water.

  • Trail length: 1.5 km
  • Main sightseeing locations: The New and Old Witch Cliffs, the Little Witch’s (Health) Spring, and the Eye Spring.
  • Great views open towards the impressive Dzenīši Giant Willow.
  • Several picnic and campfire areas are arranged by the trail, along with net loungers for relaxation.
  • Vaidava Nature Trail is especially suitable for younger visitors to Ape – it features educational information boards, balance elements, several swings, an “outdoor classroom”, and other surprises.
  • Near the largest rest area, in a bend of the River Vaidava, there is also a shallow swimming spot.
  • Inspirational quotes are placed along the trail, perfect for memorable Instagram photo sessions.

 

Important!

  • Cyclists and visitors with baby strollers can follow the trail until Ape Cemetery. Beyond that, the trail continues downhill via stairs; however, this section can be bypassed by going right past the cemetery in order to reach the rest area and swimming spot.
  • Direction signs are placed along the trail leading to each point of interest.
  • During spring floods, parts of the trail may be underwater.
  • Be careful near water. Look after yourself and your children!
