Before the current masonry church was built, Palsmane was home to two wooden churches. The first was constructed in the early 17th century, and the second in 1655. .

About Palsmane Evangelical Lutheran Church

• The present masonry church was consecrated on 16 October 1817. Its construction was organised by Pastor Friedrich Daniel Wahr, with funding donated by local farmers and Baroness Paulina von Kahlen of Palsmane Manor.
• This classicism-style, octagonal masonry church, with a bell tower on one side and oak interior finishes, belongs to the type of central-plan churches, once common in Vidzeme, but now considered very rare.
• The church’s structure has not been significantly altered since its construction, but the tower was rebuilt in 1928, when the church tower spire and the bell suspension structure were rebuilt, and the bell was raised one floor higher.
• Until 1928, the four-level octagonal tower was crowned with an octagonal dome; after reconstruction, the church acquired its current pointed spire.

• The church bell and altar painting were consecrated in 1892. . The altar painting is the work “In the Garden of Gethsemane” by the Italian painter Bellini.
• The Palsmane congregation has existed since 1621 and received its own pastor in 1697. .
• Notable pastors include: Svante Dres, a prominent hymn writer; Friedrich Bernhard Blaufuß, a member of the commission for the second edition of the Bible; and Friedrich Daniel Wahr, a poet, cartographer, and hymn writer, who devoted his entire working life to Palsmane.
• The church holds the status of a state-protected cultural and historical monument.
• A monument dedicated to soldiers of the Palsmane congregation who fell in the Latvian War of Independence stands next to the church.
