Walkin Routes in Rauna
Two hiking routes have been created in Rauna Parish: one is suitable for families with children and those who enjoy short walks, while the other will appeal to lovers of longer hikes. Both routes are circular, starting and ending in the centre of Rauna, and are marked in nature with red arrows on a white background.
SMALL LOOP
The Rauna Small Loop is based on the Rauna Nature Trail and the roads and paths in the centre of Rauna. Along the way, visitors can see various natural sites, historical landmarks, contemporary architecture, environmental objects, and sports infrastructure.
Length: 5 kilometres.
Surface: asphalt roads and footpaths; some sections include stairs.
Terrain: slight
The route can be completed with pushchairs and bicycles by bypassing the stairs via Rīgas Street.

Rauna Exhibition Hall; Doctors’ House; Tanīsa hillfort; Rauna nature trail; Rauna Devil’s Cave; Raunas mill; Rauna Castle History Trail; Rauna church; castle ruins and viewing tower; Raunas Freedom monument; Jānis Cimze monument.
BIG LOOP
The Rauna Big Loop leads from the centre of Rauna across the river, then takes a scenic route along country roads past Staburags before returning to the centre and entering the historic castle ruins area. Along the way, visitors can listen to audio guide stories, observe both contemporary and historic buildings in Rauna, and enjoy the peaceful nature trail.
Length: 17 kilometres.
Surface: trails, forest roads, gravel roads, and asphalt.
Terrain: slight
Elevation gain: approx. 160 m
The route can also be completed with pushchairs and bicycles by bypassing the stairs at the Rauna castle ruins via Rīgas Street.

Rauna Catholic church; Love Pines; ” Mežnoras“; Equestrian Club “”Baižkalni”; plant nursery “Ziedugravas”; Rauna Cliff of Staburags; Raunas Pastor’s manor; Tanīsa hillfort; Rauna nature trail; Doctors” house; Rauna Devil’s cave; Rauna mill; Rauna church; “ Leilas gardumi“; castle ruins and viewing tower; Rauna Castle history trail; nursery plant “Raunas stādi“; “Collection garden in Rauna“, Cheese and pasta factory; Werewolf’s Pine.
